Time to get your brakes serviced?

by | Jul 16, 2020

If you plan on loading the camper for your summer vacation, have your brakes checked at one of our service locations in Kamloops before you go. Brakes are one of those items we can’t forget to replace or repair because they are so vital to road safety, but how do you know if they need replacement?

Signs You Need to Replace Those Brake Pads

As a general rule, brake pads should be replaced about every 92000 km (50,000 miles) as they wear out over time, depending on driver habits and the weight of your vehicle. If you notice that your brakes are not as responsive as they used to be or you hear persistent squealing when braking, it’s time to get your brakes serviced. Some vehicles have indicator lights that trigger, or turn on when the brake pads become worn down, and vibrating brake pedals are a sure-sign you need to bring your car in to us for brake service.
Flushing your brake fluid regularly maintains brake performance by helping your braking system last longer. A basic recommendation is to have your brake fluid levels checked and topped up when you have an oil change. To keep your brake fluid clean, replace it every two to three years.
If you have your brakes checked regularly, we can detect potential problems before they happen. Regular maintenance is always more cost effective and safer than waiting for a problem to occur and then repairing.
