Vehicle Inspections in Kamloops

by | Oct 20, 2021

We are a Designated Inspection Facility

Congratulations on the purchase of your new vehicle, but if you’ve bought a used vehicle registered in another province, you’ll need an inspection to proceed with your BC vehicle registration. Inspections are completed by our certified mechanics to ensure the vehicle complies with the motor vehicle standards for BC. You’ll need a good windshield to pass, as cracks can’t be more than 30 mm and bull’s eyes can’t be more than 13 mm. Summer tires need a minimum tread depth of 2/32 with no wear bars showing, and winter tires have to have more tread depth. We will check warning lights, safety and exhaust systems. The vehicle must have all the exhaust components that it was manufactured with, so just a head’s up if you’ve modified the exhaust on your new vehicle. We’ll inspect the brakes, steering, mechanical (body) integrity, engine compartment, seat belts, lighting and electrical. When completed, you receive a comprehensive report explaining the results of the inspection and can proceed with your BC registration. We also provide U-built trailer certifications and RCMP order inspections.

Vehicles that do not need a provincial safety inspection:

  • New vehicles
  • Low speed electric vehicles
  • Motorcycles
  • Vehicles with a net weight of 3501 kg or more
